Clinical Trials

2Care –Studies the effect of Coenzyme Q10 on the progression of functional decline in individuals age 16 and older with mild to moderate HD.

Crest-E – Studies the safety and tolerability of creatine as well as its effect on the progression of HD in individuals age 18 and older who have HD or are gene positive.

Horizon- This Phase III study looks at the effects of Dimebon in people with mild to moderate HD. The goal of the study is to assess the safety of the drug as well as its effect on cognitive (thinking) abilities as well as overall function and movement.

Prequel- This study looks at the safety and tolerability of Coenzyme Q10 in those with the HD gene but who do not have symptoms. All participants in this trial will receive Coenzyme Q10 (there is no placebo).

Additionally, there are also 2 observational (no drugs given) studies that I would like you to mention:

PREDICT 2.0 - The goal of this study is to define the earliest biological and clinical features of HD before at-risk individuals have diagnosable symptoms of the disease. It is open to adults who have previously tested positive for the HD gene and are not symptomatic and for those who have tested negative. It requires one annual visit per year for a minimum of 5 years.

COHORT – is open to many members of HD families. The goal of the study is to learn more about HD, potential treatments, and to plan future HD research studies. Participants include those of any age who have clinically diagnosed HD, adults and older adolescents (15-17 years old) who are at-risk for developing HD and adults who are part of an HD family but do not have the gene (such as spouses and those who have tested negative). It requires one annual visit for as many years as you wish to participate.
